APC Success history

APC Success was established nearly 20 years ago when we began to provide APC support for a small number of major London-based surveying practices.

We later started working with individual candidates from a wide range of backgrounds including corporate, development, statutory bodies & smaller private practices. We continue to work with a large number of both firms and individual candidates across the UK, Europe and further afield.

Expert Coaches, Assessors & Auditors

Our people are Chartered Surveyors who have worked in small and large real estate organisations such as Avison Young, CBRE, Deloitte, Hillbreak, JLL, Richard Ellis, Savills, Strutt & Parker and VSL & Partners.

As well as being surveying practitioners, we have previously had responsibilities for APC candidates, corporate graduate programmes and Learning & Development functions. We are also APC Assessors, APC Panel Chairs and APC Auditors.

Career Development

We have always valued having an innovative approach to mentoring and coaching our candidates, placing importance on the candidate taking ownership and control of the process. We consider the APC assessment to be the springboard for a successful career in real estate and we are highly conscious that our role is not only to help candidates get ready for the APC assessment, but to give them the grounding for ongoing career development and professional excellence.

To that end, APC Success places great importance on improving the professionalism of candidates, often bridging the gap between academic achievement with the demands of the workplace and the dynamics of the market.  We offer far more than just coaching to pass an exam: Our aim is to build professional and personal self-confidence through APC Success!

Meet the Team

Jon W (1000x1000)

Jon Wright MRICS

Jon has been assessing APC candidates for over 25 years and is an APC Assessor, Panel Chair and Auditor. He has worked in private practice and the charitable sector as a practising surveyor and takes a particularly active interest in improving approaches to the quality and diversity of RICS members. Jon’s coaching style is very facilitative, enabling candidates to develop their strengths and thus develop confidence.

Amy Bracey FRICS

Amy is an APC Assessor and Chair, and has supported APC candidates for over 10 years. She specialises in the Commercial Real Estate and Corporate Real Estate pathways, although she also has experience in various others.

John Baker FRICS

John began APC assessing in 1999 and is a regular panel Chair and Assessor ofAPC and Senior Professional assessments. He has delivered APC training and coaching since 2011 and finds it rewarding to help the confidence of candidates increase as the final assessment interview approaches.

Carrie Guy MRICS

Carrie is an APC Assessor and Building Surveyor with a breadth of experience in commercial and residential projects nationwide. She has has been supporting APC candidates for nearly 10 years, and has set up APC structure for a number of previous employers.

Ralph Charlwood FRICS

Ralph is an experienced RICS APC Chair, assessor, auditor and appeals panel member. He started by helping friends who didn’t have access to a graduate structured training scheme pass their APC back in the early 1990s and has had a passion for coaching and training others ever since. His professional experience spans a range of practice areas including property finance, investment management, financial modelling, corporate real estate and many of the Commercial Real Estate disciplines.

Craig provides the essential admin behind the delivery and development of our courses and is often the first point of contact. They are an experienced learning administrator and are proud of the support they give to our clients.

Vivienne Spurge FRICS

Viv was the originator of APC Success and has widespread recognition of her leading role in developing APC coaching. She has practiced in a number of firms at a senior level as well as helping organisations to develop market-leading approaches to APC training. Viv’s coaching and training style is based on enabling candidates to take ownership of the APC and thereby develop a confident approach in its completion. Viv is also an APC Assessor, Panel Chair and Auditor.

Individuals

We support candidates who work in organisations which do not offer extensive in-house APC training programmes, including smaller firms and organisations.

We help these candidates to navigate the APC process through coaching and mentoring, as well as by offering them the opportunity to attend pre-submission and pre-interview courses with other candidates so that they can benefit from peer support networking.

Employers

APC Success works with a range of real estate organisations, including PLCs, public sector bodies and partnerships, who have a number of APC candidates.

We help organisations to arrange and run APC structured training programmes from recruitment of graduates all the way through to successful completion of the APC for their candidates.

Our understanding of organisations’ needs and expectations regarding graduates’ and other APC candidates’ progress is born out of our previous experiences running corporate programmes ourselves.

We lead in-house training sessions all the way through the APC process from induction to completion and ensure that feedback is given to HR and/or Counsellors to ensure candidates’ progress is maintained.
