John Baker FRICS

John began APC assessing in 1999 and is a regular panel Chair and Assessor of APC and Senior Professional assessments. He has delivered APC training and coaching since 2011 and finds it rewarding to help the confidence of candidates increase as the final assessment interview approaches.

After 16 years working for two large private practice firms in central London, John moved to the south coast in 1999. While working as a Director at Savills he became involved with graduate support for APC candidates, and since setting up his own business in 2011 he has trained and mentored several APC candidates working for regional and local firms.

John is a practising Chartered Surveyor specialising in commercial property landlord & tenant negotiations, lease advisory consultancy work and dispute resolution. He is a rent review arbitrator and independent expert on the RICS President’s panel and has previously held positions on the RICS Dispute Resolution Professional Group and the RICS South West Regional Board.

John likes to keep active outside of work. He is a licensed guide runner for visually impaired runners, a frequent participant at Parkrun, a trail run competitor, an enthusiastic tennis player and a regular touch-rugby player.
